Footlight Glamour (1943)

Reviews and Comments

Blondie and Dagwood get involved with a woman whose dream is to become an actress. The usual chaos results in the Bumsteads and some of the local residents (including Mr. Dithers' wife and the mailman!) putting on a play. It's a fairly simple premise and a bit unlikely, but it's milked for every laugh it's worth. As such, it makes for one of the funniest entries in the series. This was the last film to star Irving Bacon as the original mailman -- his character was transferred to a new route; future episodes would have Dagwood terrorizing other mailmen. It was also the last Blondie film directed by Frank R. Strayer, who had been the series' director from the beginning.
