Blondie Takes a Vacation (1939)

Reviews and Comments

At the close of the previous film, Blondie and Dagwood were finally able to take their long-awaited vacation; this film tells what happened on it. In typical Bumstead fashion, it's anything but routine. They discover a run-down hotel managed by an elderly couple, being put out of business by a nasty grump, and decide to help out. While many of the gags don't work, or don't make sense, there's enough funny material, plot twists, and scene-stealing co-stars to make it enjoyable. This entry is one of the two films in the first eighteen in which Mr. Dithers (Jonathan Hale) does not appear.
