This is weird. I don't think I've ever even been trick-or-treating, but I know that you're supposed to dress up as demons and ghosts and witches and stuff. I mean, what exactly do ballerinas and clowns have to do with halloween?

Oh, and I'm fairly certain I've never seen a pumpkin in real life either. When I was young, we did make jack o'lanterns, but (what with pumpkins not growing this side of the Pond) we made them out of turnips. Possibly that was the case before people went to America and discovered that pumpkins were easier to carve.

I suppose the most weird thing the fact that Americans are so into halloween, really. Actually, now I think about it, the idea of *celebrating* a night when all the evil in the world has free reign is just plain wrong.

Still, as I've said before, it would probably be observed in Britain too, except that it's too close to Guy Fawkes' Night.
