The Earthsea trilogy are among my favorite books. Tehanu is a good book, and worth reading, but it is different from the original Trilogy. In fact, I think it's so different that the title "trilogy" still applies to the Earthsea books, with Tehanu as a sort of companion novel.

I had never heard of it either, until my older brother, an avid sci-fi/fantasy fan who always gives me books as presents, presented it to me soon after it was first published in 1990.
