Ma and Pa Kettle Back On the Farm is a minor slump in the series, a step down from its adjacent entries. Although Ma and Pa are as amusing as always, the storyline is a jumble of unrealistic cliches and depends too heavily on the contrived melodrama surrounding the new baby of the Kettles' oldest and newly married son. The Kettles are at their funniest when they're handling real-world situations according to their own delightfully skewed perspectives. The real humor in this series comes directly from its characters. Unfortunately Ma and Pa are too hampered by meddlesome and unlikely plot developments to sit back and be themselves very much. I still enjoyed the movie but prefer the other early episodes.
