The Ma and Pa Kettle characters from The Egg and I were so good at stealing scenes, Universal decided to give them their own series. The humor is of a pleasant, gentle nature, not so much intended to induce laughs as smiles. Smiles are too often underrated. This movie is a warmly welcome relief from harder-edged comedies.
