Hate to ask for a hint, but desperate times ...

First time playing something of this nature, and admittedly, am finding it ... well, confounding in parts.

I'm stuck at that annoying chasm - with the broken bridge. I'm assuming - perhaps incorrectly - that there is a means to anchor the bridge once it has been secured with the arrow and rope ... but I fail to see precisely how ....

If anyone could provide just the tinsiest hint, I would be grateful : )
