I probably shouldn't be posting this message now, but I just wrote another piece of fiction. This one will be posted at the link below, probably in two hours or so. In the meantime, the link won't work, although I am sure everyone is too busy playing GOAT to read the Forum right now anyway.

I don't like this new one as much as the last. Still, I feel that it is a good idea for me to practice when I can. I have always heard people say that you should write what you know, so that's what I'm doing. Unfortunately, the things I know are generally not too interesting. :-)

For those who are interested in such things, the walk I describe in the story never happened. It may happen, though, and some time soon. I don't know if that knowledge makes any difference in the way the story reads.

One thing I should say is that I fear that my writing lacks in sufficiently detailed descriptions. I know that when I am writing, I can see the places vividly in my head, because I have been to them. However, others do not have the same benefit. I suspect that a good idea to help with this would be to write something based on a place I have imagined, and then leave it for a few months so the original imagined image is gone. I could then read it again and see if the story conjures the image for me. Or, of course, I could let others read my works and tell me what they feel is missing. *sigh*... Now I'm just rambling.
