What about route 40, also known as the National Highway? It basically runs east-west from coast to coast across the entire United States. That would take a substantial amount of time to traverse. And anyway, part of it is closed just beyond Vandalia, Ohio, so you'd have to take the Interstate 70 detour anyway. Boring.
