There is a great deal of nostalgia about some of those old routes. 66, 40, 1, and 41 are among the most popular. They are good highways for people who want to see the real America. It's best to see them in a vintage convertible, or on a Harley, or (why not?)on an old-time motorscooter. You might want to check out the Natchez Trace parkway that begins in Middle Tennessee and goes to Mississsippi. Great for camping or bicycling.
