Perhaps I'm being too generous to this simplistic entry in the East Side Kids series, in which the kids try to raise money by sponsoring a race horse. But I really enjoyed the character of the horse's owner, an endearing black man portrayed with a sensitivity uncharacteristic for the times. The chemistry between the two leading kids, Bobby Jordan and Leo Gorcey, holds up the rest of the film.
