Tarzan's Three Challenges (1963)

Reviews and Comments

Jock Mahoney's second and final turn as Tarzan takes place in, and was filmed entirely on location in, Thailand. He never did make a movie set in Tarzan's native jungle -- his first film was set in India. He never made a movie with the chimp Cheetah, either, for that matter, a fact for which Mahoney was always grateful.

The middle chapter of this Tarzan episode is tense, gritty, and well done. But the business about the challenges themselves, which play a role in the beginning and end of the picture, are just dumb. (In the beginning, Tarzan has to prove his worth for his help to be accepted.) The rest of the movie is singularly uninvolving.
