I try to make the bulk of the stories "universal" in nature -- understandable by most people who own a computer. However, there are some that require further knowledge to appreciate. These are invariably ones where the people involved should have known better, even if you may not necessarily be expected to know what they should have. For example, if you're not a programmer, it's no poor reflection on you if you don't get any of the stories in the "Programming" section. But the people committing the stupidities there certainly should have known. Or, in some cases, the lack of knowledge was innocent after all, and it was the consequences of it that are funny rather than an instance of conventional stupidity.
