Yes, most of those Caribbean countries are cruise stops. I always get off the ship, just so I can say I've been there. I don't count airline stops unless I actually get off the plane, so I guess I would use the same rule on ships. I have been to some islands two or three times. That list didn't count places like Puerto Rico, Key West, St. Thomas, and St. John, because they are all US ports. I forgot to list Honduras. Actually, we stopped at Rutan, an island off the coast of Honduras.

If you go to Florida from Virginia, you have to pass throught two or three other states. You could go through Tennessee and Georgia, but the most likely route would be North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.
