That's how I remember it, too. Actually, I think Arwen pretty much replaced most people involved in that scene in the movie; she replaced Glorfindel in his part, Gandalf in his part, Elrond in his small indirect part, and even Frodo in his self-saving part.

Whether or not that was a good call, I'm not sure. I leave that up to people who know better than I. ;) I'm just glad I didn't have to be confused by Tom and the barrow-downs again in the movie.
