I am a proud Australian.
These people are not the first to enter our country. We have been using detention centres to hold thousands of illegal refugees that enter our country. We are building them houses and giving them food and medical attention.
Where do we cut off the line? Right now. It cannot continue. These people are breaking the law.
If I were to get in a boat and go to a far distant country, I wouldn't be welcomed woth open arms. I would probably be shot on the beach.
Their boat was not sinking either. They saw the "Tampa" they sabotaged their own boat so they could be rescued. It has been the main headline in Australian media for a long time.
If you think our Government doesn't care about these people you are wrong. Other countries have offered to take them in. But who is footing the bill?
Me. Your average Australian tax payer. Every last cent to help these people find peace is being paid for by our Government. We are not shutting the door in their face. We are paying for their taxi ride to the airport.
I take great offense to the statement that Australians are inhumane.
460? You don't have 460 rooms available for rent in America?
If a begger came to your door and demanded to sleep on your couch, would you let him?
Why should we take these law breakers in? I think we have done too much already.
