Wow. 'tis the season for Rinkies to travel.
Fa la la la la la la la la.

I didn't even mention the weird Evil Metric System Taking Away Ireland's Heritage thing.

You go driving along in Ireland and you'll see all these white signs (green in more urban areas) with directions to the nearest town and the distance. The distance is in kilometers.

You go driving along in Ireland and you'll see all these speed limit signs. They're all in miles per hour.

You go driving along in Ireland and you'll see all these brown attraction signs pointing you to even more scenic things to take pictures of. The distance is measured in kilometers. Or perhaps it's in miles. Or meters. Or yards.

You put gas/petrol in your car and it's in liters. You buy beer by the pint or half-pint (a "glass"). You buy soda in half-liter bottles or 333mL cans.

In four months, Ireland switches to the Euro. That's going to be something.

Oh, and here's a little bit about soda I didn't put anywhere in the daily reports. On my entire trip, I only saw one place that sold Pepsi. Everywhere else, it was Coca-Cola. But that's not the semi-interesting bit I want to fixate on right now.

The cola can contains only 333mL instead of 355mL (12 fl. oz.) here in the states. The bottles are half-liter instead of a good-sized 20 ounces. They're tiny. They also read "Soft Drink with Vegetable Extracts" on the back, just above the ingredient list.

The Nutrition Facts box on most packaged foods is also different. The first thing on it is "Energy". Just in case you want to know how many kiloJoules are in that Cadbury's Timeout bar. I had more cookies, just because I could see how much energy I was getting from them.

I'll stop now before I tangent any further.
