The only funny thing I've seen on Saturday Night Live in ages (okay, I only watch it one or two times a year, so I might have missed some stuff) was a cartoon segment titled "The X-Presidents". It was basically a send-up of the X-Men, with Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford, and Ronald Reagan as ex-presidents endowed with super-powers, ever vigilant for threats to Liberty and Justice.

At the end of the segment, overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of the enemy, they issue the secret superhero summons that brings Richard Nixon bursting forth from his sepulcher, ready to ride in like the cavalry and save the day. The whole thing was just so goofy, over the top and lighthearted that it had me absolutely rolling on the floor.

How come the rest of SNL doesn't ever provoke that kind of response from me anymore? When did it start to be SUCK?

Iss "bolts his furniture to the floor so that it won't be vacuumed into the television if he accidentally channel surfs to an SNL episode" achar
