It wasn't until later, when I happened to read the lyrics in a chorus book, that I realized "Ohh! Dawn's early!" I had just assumed it was some sort of adjective describing dawn-type light. > > Gr"sounds better than dawnsish"ace
A couple few years ago, a fiend of mine had a book called "'Scuse Me While I Kiss This Guy, and Other Misheard Lyrics". It's a very funny book with illustrations for some of the more visually inclined mishearings. For some of them listed, I thought, "Now how could someone possibly think that?" For most, I thought "Yeah, I remember thinking that." For the rest, I thought, "Oh, so I've been wrong all these years." I saw another edition in a bookstore a some time ago, and there could even be another by now.
My favorites in the book were: (from Deep Purple's "Smoke On The Water") - "Slow motion Walter, fire engine guy." (from Tom Petty's "I Was Born A Rebel") - "I was Barney Rubble."
