Isn't it a selfish and entitled attitude to presume that one person deserves wealth simply because they were born to the right people? Inheritance allows one group of people (related by blood) to stay very wealthy, so should we view as noble those who steal from the rich, breaking the laws which keep wealthy people well off from generation to generation? I don't mean people pressing for changes in taxation laws -- I mean people who feel they're justified in just outright taking something from someone they feel is better off. > > Honestly, I think it's pretty obvious that yes, all of those things are selfish and entitled.
It's only obvious if you meant "selfish" in a too-broad sense of "concerned for oneself". But basically everyone understands "selfish" to refer usually to *excessive* concern for oneself and often to giving oneself some sort of privileges at the expense of others. It's not at all obvious that having property, even lots of it, is selfish in those senses.
The same goes for "entitled", which I think of as someone saying "That should be mine (whether or not it currently is)!", while someone with property would say "That is mine (whether or not it should be).".
