Summer Movie Preview 2006 posted by Sam on Thursday, April 27, 2006, at 18:57:28:
Summer is upon us, and once again we have a full gamut of the usual fare: sequels, remakes, family flicks, teen comedies and the usual Hollywood movie trend.
> May 5 - Mission: Impossible III
How long has it been since M:I2?
> May 5 - Hoot
Yay. Kids fight to save a nature preserve/city park/old folk's home/playground/favorite tree.
Where haven't we seen this before?
> May 12 - Poseidon
I say the original was good, and if it ain't broke don't fix it.
> May 12 - Just My Luck
At what age is it required for starlets like Lindsay Lohan to stop making movies like this?
> May 19 - See No Evil
More like "I Know What You Did The Summer Before Last".
> May 19 - Over the Hedge > July 28 - Barnyard
We have identified the movie trend of 2006: CG features with talking animals going on adventures. How many have there been now, Madagascar, The Wild, Ice Age 2...
> May 19 - The Da Vinci Code
I smell Christian protest groups.
> May 31 - Blood Car
Sounds like a movie a politically inclined nutjob would make.
Learning it's a comedy makes me feel a little better about this one...but only a little.
> June 6 - The Omen
I wonder if John Moore and his cast and crew will suffer the same curse as Richard Donner and his cast and crew did making the original?
> June 9 - A Prairie Home Companion
Looks like "A Mighty Wind" with old-time country radio flavor.
> June 9 - Cars
A movie about talking cars released amidst a number of movies about talking animals. At least Pixar dares to be different.
> June 16 - Garfield's A Tale of Two Kitties
I still say CG Garfield looks ugly. I'm only surprised the first film did good enough to warrant another one.
> June 16 - Sssslither
Wouldn't it have been easier to send animal wranglers or hunters to catch this eel rather than college students?
Oh well, whatever sells tickets.
> June 16 - The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift
Car chases in Japan! Sugoi~!
> June 16 - Nacho Libre
A kid's movie about Mexican wrestlers would be up the alley of someone like Jack Black, I suppose.
> June 30 - Click
The world is controlled by a TV remote.
I'd hate to see what would happen if the batteries died.
> June 30 - Superman Returns
Houston, we have a blockbuster.
Is this a remake or a sequel to an earlier sequel?
> July 7 - Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
If they can pull off a sequel to this without making it look like a milking of a franchise, good luck to them.
> July 21 - My Super Ex-Girlfriend
If this gets any revenue I'll be surprised.
> July 21 - The Genius Club
One night to solve world hunger, cancer, terrorism, rush hour traffic, jerks. You sure this isn't a comedy?
> July 28 - Miami Vice
Looking forward to the A-Team movie next year. :P
> July 28 - Little Miss Sunshine
A family film that's rated R? Sounds like a contradiction in itself.
> August 4 - The Ant Bully
Not interested.
> August 4 - Flags of Our Fathers
Blocbuster number two.
> August 9 - World Trade Center
The performance of "United 93" may very well decide the fate of this one.
As for me...I'm not into dramas.
> August 11 - Zoom
I'm surprised Disney didn't make this.
> August 18 - Snakes On a Plane
A movie about, appropriately enough, snakes on a plane. Clever.
