I'm afraid I can't sympathise with this at all. Sorry.
To me, it's self-evident that any big-budget movie with the premise that The Gods Were Really Aliens is going to be dumb. It's just not an environment were intelligence seems to flourish.
Yes, Stargate had a plot consisting entirely of cliches, and maybe one cool idea in its entire length. But I expected that.
