Whoa there. Stargate is my biggest personal problem with them. Perhaps it was my fault, but I got all psyched up expecting a cool (and intelligent) sci-fi movie about the possiblity of having had aliens visit the planet back in ancient Egypt, and also in leaving a gate that traversed the universe. Instead we got a bunch of lame action and 20 minutes where it seemed like it might be cool. Maybe I was expecting too much, but still that's how the movie was promoted.

Exactly. They make bad big-budget action stuff. The worst thing is I always think they have decent ideas. ID4 *could* have been great, and much like Stargate starts off very well (the image of the huge towering ships is incredible). Unfortunately it quickly degenerates. Universal Soldier is a decent enough idea as well. And of course we all realize the potential for a "good" Godzilla movie (by good I mean bad-good).
