That was a bit traumatic. Not only did posting to the forum break, but the Dialectizer broke, Crazy Libs broke, the search engine on At-A-Glance Film Reviews broke, and some of the larger Trivia Stampede categories broke.

It all occurred because my web host needed to implement an automated way to prevent against runaway CGI processes, suppressing those that consumed too many system resources -- so the CGI portions of the site that require a fair amount of calculation and/or memory to run died. The scheme had some problems, I guess; after talking with them about it, they said that my site had been "behaving" and lifted the restrictions for my account. I'm grateful to them for that, because I'm not sure how I would have worked around the resource limitation otherwise.

It makes the problem of the size of this message forum something of an issue I'll need to contend with sooner or later, however. The size of the "all messages" page is 1.7 megs, and it takes more and more system resources to add messages to it. I'm going to have to figure out a way to rewrite this thing so it can handle higher volume better. Of course, sooner or later I'm going to run into disk space problems, too, but I'm blissfully ignoring that one for as long as I can.

At any rate, these problems are mine, not yours, and contending with them is certainly worth it, as I enjoy the conversation that goes on here and the fact that others do, too. So the forum is open again! Have at it.
