Finished Outlaws, but...

I just finished Outlaws (which was awesome by the way) but I never ended up talking to the salesman. Does anyone know how this could have affected the story? Does it have anything to do with when I pretend to be him at the hideout? Just curious, because I don't want to try and do the whole thing over again just to figure it out.
