GOA again!! Possibly most frustrating game ever!

Ok I'm sooooooo stuck... My inventory:
26 Bronze Coins
6 Apples
Food Rations
Wire Clippers
Blanket

7 Red Gemstones
Guard's Sword
Tinderbox
Key of Opening
Picture

3 Black Gemstones
Stone of Strengthening
Torch
Clear Focus Stone

Also what I need to do at the moment: I think, reading through other messages, I need to find a rusty nail to hold up the blanket at a certain store so I can get a certain item which will further help me. Therefore, I'm at a complete standstill (I think) until I can find this darn nail! Looking through, it seems to be in the shack, but I've been to the shack, gone through several options a *lot* of times and still nothing! Please? Help? Anyone?
Also, am I supposed to use my wire clippers? If so, where or when or both?
