This afternoon, I was watching a race on the tube. My favorite driver, Mark Martin, was in third with just a few laps left. He was about to make a pass for second with an outside chance of catching the leader for a win. I remember commenting that something was about to fall out of the sky and land on him. He has had some really wierd bad luck this season, and as a result has won only one race. Sure enough, he slowed suddenly and finished 15th. I think they said he had a flat on the next to last lap.

Races don't always go to the fastest car, or the best driver. Luck plays a big part in deciding the outcome of most races. I guess that's just racing.
