"But at least she smells good!" he said, almost as if he were still defending himself.

Ok, I suppose it's one of those "you had to be there" types of things, but I was highly amused, partly by the way it was said.

Incidentally, this same cat was meowing to be let outside a few weeks ago, so the owner went to open the sliding glass door to let her out. The cat made a mad dash for the great outdoors, but just happened to do that before my friend had opened the screen door. The cat was going fast enough to stun herself, and for the next couple of days, she had a fear of going out that door.

Yes, cats are crazy.
