Adventure Games Live for the Spatially Inept

I've played all of the AGL games and with the exception of The Trainer, which, quite honestly, doesn't count, I've gotten stuck and stopped playing. I realized today that my problem is that I have a hard time figuring out where I am and where I am supposed to go - *not* what I am supposed to do. Mazes are the bane of my existence (yes, I still love Murkon's Refuge), but even simple locations, movements, and directions are hard for me.

I love AGL. I've posted about that before so I won't go into it again. Playing an AGL game that I could actually get through would rock my world.

I remember playing an old text-adventure game where you pretty much walked around in the same few area and did things. How feasible is it to have an AGL game like this? I imagine it could get frustrating at first because you might feel like you've explored every place and still haven't progressed very far, but that would probably go away once the game goes on -- and I couldn't see it being a problem if players understand that this game would be different in terms of number of locations and extent of movement.
