I did get into the kitchen and waited for the servant girls to be busy in there but when I go back to the banquet hall theyy come back before I can do anything.

When you go back to the shack, have you tried to stand on the crate? If you have, have you checked the top very carefully. With the servant girls, you only have so many moves to get into the banquet hall and take the painting. But first realize that the painting is there. You will get the option to take the painting down. Once you get that option then try it. But plan out ahead.
some of those coins will be used to for the rind you need made. Hope that helps.
