A lot of my friends' cars had names when I was in high school, too. A bunch of us had this felony theme going: Assassin, Arson, Suicide, and Homicide. Each one had a reason behind its name, and the theme developed after the first two, I think.

We once owned a VW camper van (1973 vintage) that my mum named Flossy. I never found out why. Guess I was just not bothered enough to ask.

A friend of mine from University had a yellow Vauxhall viva that was called the heap, rustbucket, don't-gomobile etc. We had called it the bananawagon until we found out how reliable it was(n't). It was also the only car that you could actually unlock the doors of with a crooklok key!

The best name for a car I ever heard comes from the book "Good Omens" by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. The character Newton Pulsifer drives a wasabi, a car that is for ever in the 'shop waiting for parts or other work to be done. When it is on the road it is somewhat sedate. He calls it "Dick Turpin" in the vague hope that someone will ask him why. Eventually someone does and he mumbles, "Because everywhere I go I hold up traffic."

Bea"Now you're going to tell me you don't know who Dick Turpin was, aren't you?"sty

PS Don't you just hate it when you've just finished typing a post and your PC crashes and you lose it ALL and have to start ALL OVER AGAIN?
