This reality continues to get closer. The USS Kitty Hawk, a U.S. aircraft carrier, left Tokyo today, bound for the Middle East. (The article didn't list the ship's destination, but I heard that from another source.) On that ship is a 21-year-old man I knew fairly well. He's been married for a year, and his wife left her whole family and her comfortable lifestyle in the United States to go live with him in Japan. He was supposed to be stationed back in the United States once he had finished two years of military service, but now who knows when he will be back.
