I am always hearing statements like, "Did you know there are 8 insect legs in every ounce of chocolate?" or "Did you know that you eat 8 spiders every year while you are sleeping?"

Now, what I want to know is if there is any scientific basis on these claims. Have scientists been doing research on this!? Is there a lab somewhere where scientists are monitering sleeping patients for spider to mouth activity? Do candy companies have inspecters that choose random bits of chocolate, and dissect them for insect bits?

I don't know, I just don't know. I doubt there is actually any proof, and why would anyone want to make up something so silly!
