> Heh. True enough. I guess I should make it clear that I don't think the US had absolutely *no* warning about the attack on Pearl Harbor before it happened. I think it's been proved that we at least knew the Japanese were up to *something* big. I think the result was more typical American complacency--we didn't *really* think they'd dare attack us, so we didn't do a whole lot with the warning signs we got. It's an unfortunate affect of being the strongest nation on the planet and having two large oceans as a buffer between us and anyone who would normally want to harm us. We honestly think nobody would *dare* attack us, and even if we did believe they would attack us, we don't think they can do it effectively because we're so far away from them.
