So, you can't sleep without the radio on, and yet the radio keeps you awake? Interesting. How about tuning it just to static so that you get a gentle "white noise" effect, or to a classical station with no lyrics or words? Or, how about a white noise generator with surf and seagulls or jungle bird noises.

My concern is that "listening" to the radio all night not only interferes with your sleep patterns, you're making your brain overactive -- because it wants to interpret the words you're hearing -- during the times when brain activity should be in the resting state. The reason we dream probably is to incorporate material learned during the previous day. If you're hearing extraneous words during this time, you're interfering with a critical memory and learning process. This probably affects the quality of your sleep.

You heard her. Anyone else who listens to their radio all night while asleep? I sometime do that for a whole hour in the morning on weekends when I forget to turn off the alarm. :-)
