West Coast, Mid West, East Coast, and now you can add The South to the list of areas where that silly expression is used. I don't reckon I know the origin either.
I remember one time when I used the expression that something was "the best thing since sliced bread." The guy I was talking to, a native Tennessean about 60 years old, laughed and said that he hadn't heard it used before. He must not be listening.
