It's a real pity we've had such a bad history with France, isn't it? In fact, it seems that whoever the British met up with or colonised in the last few centuries, we ended up fighting. We have also had a pretty bad history with Scotland, with America, and with pretty much every other country except Australia and New Zealand. Heck, even the Chinese have had military contact with us - I think it was because they wouldn't let us trade drugs. What's really weird, though, is that we aren't outright enemies of anyone nowadays. It's all got patched up and swept under the carpet. What a friendly world we live in.
