Today (16th June) is the Queen's official 75th birthday. As I type this, I'm watching the Changing of the Guard on TV as part of the celebrations. They say that Monday will be the anniversary of Waterloo - just one of the many occasions on which we had a massive victory against the French.

It occurs to me that the last century in which we didn't conduct military action against France would have been the 8th Century. During WWII, Churchill ordered the sinking of the French fleet. It's just a shame he waited until Germany had taken France.

They've just announced that the person co-ordinating the Changing of the Guard is Sergeant-Major Perry Mason. For one brief foolish moment, I thought they meant he was going to be played by Raymond Burr. Oh how foolish do I feel.
