LOL. You're not the only one; I've had to do exactly what you've described. However, I'll qualify the statement by adding that nearly all of the assignments I've had to cut down were for essay contests with incredibly short maximum limits. I haven't had any teachers who've found my essays too long to handle. Yet.

Although my AP English teacher last year *did* describe my sentences as Faulknerian, heh...
