I have thought a lot about this point of your argument, and I believe that there is a flaw that has not been pointed out yet, and I must address it (despite my wish that this drawn out thread could die a peaceful death).

The problem is this: This argument, by necessity, requires a moral foundation. In reality, the issue of whether or not women should be given a legal means to have an abortion depends on whether the abortion is morally right or wrong. If having an abortion is morally wrong, then I do not believe that abortion should be legal--we should have no reason to feel responsible for what people suffer through while carrying out immoral activities.

Conversely, if abortion is morally acceptable ("right") then you are correct--it SHOULD be made legal, without question. The real problem here, then, becomes one of the morality of abortion. I will NOT try and present an argument one way or another on that issue; all I'm saying is that this particualr argument is really just another aspect of the morality debate, and should not be used on its own as a reason for abortion to be legalized.
