People stood up at ours.

I just graduated, and I remember obsessing about whether I was walking at the right pace. The National Honor Society and Beta Club had underclassmen who were holding candles lining the aisle down which we walked. (Bonus points to anyone who deciphers that horrific syntax.)

One of the people holding a candle was a friend of mine who gave me a teeny wave and a little half-smile, but his eyes were bright with tears. I winked at him, but it was all I could do not to cry. I pulled together pretty fast, though.

My surname comes early in the alphabet, so after I was at my seat, I had to sit there and wait for the other 13 rows to shuffle into place. Oh, and we had an organist playing "Pomp and Circumstance", and it was really loud since generally that organ is used to play the national anthem(s) at sporting events. I ended up with a horrible headache.

So that's my graduation processional narrative. Yowza, this is much longer than I intended it to be.
