Yep, and she won an Oscar for it. Getting turned down for the My Fair Lady movie had some thick silver lining around it. She'd have been brilliant in the movie, I'm positive, but Hepburn was also brilliant.

You're correct about the singing. Hepburn's songs were dubbed by Marni Nixon, who would work with Julie Andrews the next year: she was Sister Sophia in The Sound of Music. Still, Hepburn's amazing speaking talent is quite evident: there is nothing else on film quite like her Eliza Dolittle.
