Audrey Hepburn was a really amazing actor, but from what I hear, she couldn't sing worth a plug nickel. She had to lip-synch all her songs in My Fair Lady. Julie Andrews actually defined the role on Broadway with Rex Harrison, but when they went to make the movie, they didn't want her because she had no film experience, and they went with Hepburn instead, who couldn't sing. Go figure.

If I remember correctly, Mary Poppins was Andrew's debut film role. I think people tried to talk Walt Disney out of choosing her for the part, but he had faith in her abilities, and it paid off big time. Thank you, Walt.
