Speaking of this... do you know what Disney's next sequel is? Cinderella 2.

WHY? What happened to 'and they lived happily ever after'?

I can just picture it. 'Cinderella 2: Return of the Stepmother'. Or perhaps it will go into the supposed happily-ever-afterness of the marriage? Cinderella discovers that Prince Charming snores like a major logging operation, perhaps. Or he discovers that around certain times of the month, his lovely bride becomes not so happily-ever-after herself. Heh.

Sarcasm aside, I think I can predict the plot fairly well, because nearly all of the recent Disney sequel crop go this way. The two protagonists from the first movie have a kid, and the kid has some adventure that is related to something one of the parents did in the first movie. The Little Mermaid 2, Lady and the Tramp 2 and The Lion King 2 are all like this. Oh, and the villain is in some way related to the villain of the first movie, too.

In fact, the only truly decent Disney animated sequels I can think of are Fantasia 2000 (which rules) and The Rescuers Down Under, which is fairly good. At least the producers of that movie had the imagination to break away from the locations and antagonists of the first movie and go with something different.

I truly wish Disney would break out of its 'let's make sequels of questionable quality' mode. And it's not just in animated movies either - heck, several 'updates' of attractions at their theme parks have been absolutely awful. If you have ever been to the original Enchanted Tiki Room and liked it even the tiniest bit, then visiting the Enchanted Tiki Room Under New Management at Disney World will be pure torture. And don't even get me started about the 'updating' of the Imagination pavillion at Epcot. Gah.

End rant.

Sosi"although I have to admit, the Winnie the Pooh ride at Disney World is pretty cool"qui
