I read a strange article in the paper this morning that I thought was worthy of comment. Apparently (and I haven't confirmed this yet), Disneys is beginning production of a film called "Reign of Fire" set in the Norfolk mountains. Let's say that again. The Norfolk mountains.

Noel Coward once said, with his usual knack for understatment, "Very flat, Norfolk". The primary geographic features of the area are broad, slow-moving rivers. The blatant geographical error must have been known as filming will take place in County Wicklow in Ireland, an area famous for its mountains.

I am used to so-called historical films not containing a shred of historical truth (Braveheart, Patriot and U 571 are the most blatant offenders), but you wouldn't make a film about ice-floes of Florida, or a Swiss beach, so why abandon any pretense at accuracy now?

OK, admittedly "Volcano" had an equally bad geographical premise, so this isn't the first, but this is definatly something that should be stopped. Join me in my attemt to make Hollywood reconise that factual films should have some small nugget of truth in them.
