My uncle tried to research his family line. I saw the family tree, once. Let's see, on his mother's (my grandmother) side, it goes pretty far back. On the paternal side, it goes through a name change, about three generations or so further back, and then stops. Why? It gets lost. "The quagmire" is now the official family term for the bloodline.
