I've read the short story and the play. The play may be what is being referred to here as the novel but I'm not sure. Who knows, maybe there is a novel, too.

Where the Red Fern Grows made me cry, too. A Separate Peace did not even though I think it was trying to make me weepy. Catcher in the Rye made me frustrated. The Book of Three made me tense. How to Eat Fried Worms made me laugh.
