Utz (a potato chip manufacturer based in Hanover, PA, ten minutes from where I grew up) has been making "kettle-cooked" chips for as long as they've been in existence. And they're called just that, too.

They have one variety that's actually fried in pure lard, giving them a much heavier texture than normal chips (I'm not overly fond of these- they taste weird) and another that is fried in veggie oil but cut thicker, which has almost the same effect, but without the weird taste.

They do not make any varieties with sea salt, as far as I am aware- but they have these great "Crab Chips" seasoned with Old Bay. But then, that close to the Chesapeake, Old Bay seasoning is a requirement for most anything. ^_^
