Yes.

I have read and reread LOTR. It never loses its brilliance. If I had to choose a favorite author of all time, it would be Tolkien.

I attempted to read Les Miserables in high school, after I had seen the musical. I made it through the first three "books" and then it totally lost me in the fourth book. Last year, I bought an abridged version, and read that all the way through. Someday I'll go back and read the unabridged book all the way through.
