Basically, by not giving specifics about this guy and our relationship, I hoped to avoid reactions like:

Well, they've known each other for a long time/short time, so he should definitely understand/want to get to know her better etc.

I basically wanted to see what guys thought of the poem and get a diversity of responses so I could look at them based on factors like the ones you mentioned. Hope this makes me a little more clear.
